The Salesian Boys & Girls Club of East Boston has been serving youth in East Boston and the surrounding communities since 1945. Our club offers year round programming to young people ages 6-19. From September to June our organization is open for our after school program. This program provides academic support. homework help, athletic leagues and programming, art, science, stem, dance, cooking, leadership groups, community service and teen programs. Members of our after school program can join the club for a humble yearly fee of $20.00. Our after school program is a second home to almost 250 youth and volunteers per day. We are proud to provide a place where young people can feel safe and grow socially. Our club is also open for a nine week summer camp program the operates from the end of June to the end of August. We accept campers from the ages of 6-14 and provide small group structured programs and activities throughout the day. Our summer camp program also provides weekly field trip opportunities and specialized events such as community service projects. We are proud to staff these programs with local college aged students and teens in the neighborhood who have an interest in serving young people through hands on experience or administrative positions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Teens hired for the gym support staff members position will be responsible for day to day facilitation of athletic programs and fitness activities. These teens will help young people in our program participate by providing instruction, guidance and encouragement. Athletic assistants will be responsible for daily monitoring of equipment and upkeep of gym space. These individuals must have a passion for sports and fitness and be energetic. Teens must be comfortable working with large groups of children. Teens hired for the front desk assistant position at our club must have an interest in supporting our organization in a more administrative role. These teens will be responsible for answering the phone, checking members in and out of the program, processing membership forms, and providing parents with quality and friendly customer service when necessary. Teens who are interested in this position must be organized, friendly, patient and posses proficient computer skills. Individuals applying for the homework room assistant position will have in interest in working with smaller groups of children and at times supporting them with homework help with one on one instruction. These teens need to be patient and have a interest and passion and helping children reach their educational goals.
