  • Overview:

    Our Youth Peer Leadership program is an after school enrichment and leadership program aimed to build young leaders ages of 14 - 18 years old, to make impact on their own lives and their community. We achieve this by exposing the youth to leadership development, community service, postsecondary opportunities, job skill training, art and culture, and technology. It is important to empower young people to achieve social and academic excellence in their community. We are Building Future Leaders. We are Building Strong Leaders. We are Building Smart Leaders.We achieve this by Training young people on leadership skills, Increasing opportunities and exposure outside their immediate environment, Involving youth in community leadership positions, Training young people in job readiness skills, and Provide opportunities to practice skills in real-world work experiences. The youth assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and facilitating activities for residents and for the community, including events such as Halloween Party, Christmas Party, Black History Month Celebration, Dance Recital, and National Night Out Community Block Party. Approximately 1,500 people attended this year's National Night Out, which required tremendous coordination and contribution by the youth. In addition, the youth are responsible for mass mailings to TDC residents, posting of flyers advertising community events, and file forms and documents related to events. Youths shop for supplies for events and keep the Peer Leadership spaces clean

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    Peer Leader, Serve as a role model for teenagers and demonstrate professionalism and motivation, Start each workday by leading a 10-minute check-in activity for the crew, Supervise youth during work, field trips and trainings

    The Ideal Candidate for this Job:

    Peer Leader - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team -Ability to work with people from a variety of ages, economic, and ethnic backgrounds -Ability to co-supervise smaller groups alone
