Be part of a movement-building organization that grows capacity and provides resources across Boston and Massachusetts to power the shift to a more just, sustainable and democratic economy! Help us develop local ownership and control of our city's economy for low-income and working-class people of color!

The Center for Economic Democracy's mission is to support visions and practices that move our city, state, and country toward a just, sustainable economy after capitalism. Our work includes:

- Holding educational gatherings about "solidarity economy/economic democracy"

- Helping new group that assist people to start & run socially responsible businesses and co-ops, get started and grow through acting as a fiscal sponsor (for example: Boston Ujima Project, Centro Cooperativo de Desarrollo y Solidaridad)

- Hosting loan funds and emergency relief funds, to support community economic development, and to #BuildBackBetter from disasters like the pandemic (for example: Mass Redistribution Fund)

- Making grants to grassroots groups working for economic justice (for example: Solidarity Economy Initiative)

- Policy research & advocacy (for example: reforming the Boston city charter to give residents the power to decide how our tax money gets spent, through participatory budgeting)

CED believes in creating a pipeline for local youth into leadership of social justice organizations! We want to give you exposure to a range of nonprofits within the movement for economic justice and democracy - from grassroots groups that work with their memberships on issues such as worker rights, immigrant rights, tenant rights etc; to small business development outfits; to grantmaking foundations; to administrative support structures. While making a valuable contribution to our work, you'll gain, practice, and demonstrate professional skills in the areas of nonprofit administration & community planning such as:

- Data entry and filing

- Event planning, outreach, and registration

- Providing tech support for virtual meetings

- Conducting research and surveys

- Supplies inventory and budgeting

- Supporting merchandise sales

- Communications & marketing

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Ideal Candidate for this Job:

- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred (but it's ok if you're better with one than the other)

- You must have good ability to communicate with others, and to work (or learn to work) in a team

- You must be generally tech-competent and able to work on a computer for periods of up to 3 hours at a time

- You must know how, or be willing to learn and practice, good independent project/task management in order to complete work on time and to a high standard
