Here at VietAID, we aim to provide resources and guidance with linguistic capacity, cultural competence, and accessibility woven into our approach. Our programming staff is often comprised of those who are from the very communities we serve, truly making our organization of and for the community. There is a relatability and sensitivity we apply to our approach that marks our program as uniquely qualified to serve not just the large Vietnamese American population in Dorchester, but also many of the underrepresented community members in the Boston area, including immigrants/refugees, low-income families and individuals, and others in need.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and implement projects to address community problems and concerns Engage with direct service projects like helping with translation and tutoring to better understand community needs Participate and lead program community bonding activities Attend weekly social justice workshops Participate in gender and sexuality affinity group conversation & circle
The Ideal Candidate for this Job:
Must have internet access to attend online meetings (if it is virtually needed) and be flexible with their schedule Must be committed to serving the Dorchester community and be passionate about addressing social injustices Must be able to take initiatives and be comfortable with taking on new challenges Must be open-minded, willing to go outside comfort zone, and be reflective about their identity Must have a team-oriented and collective mindset
