Overview:

Our department is responsible for 217 City parks, playgrounds and athletic fields, two golf courses, 65 squares, 17 fountains, 75 game courts, 16 historic and three active cemeteries, urban wilds, four High School Athletic Fields, and approximately 125,000 trees, all covering 2,346 acres, 1,000 of which comprise the historic Emerald Necklace. We are also responsible for more than 35,000 street trees. From ParkARTS performing arts like concerts and puppet shows, to participatory programming like arts and crafts workshops, to special events and festivals—Boston's parks are full of activity!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of parks employees, assist the Outreach Coordinator, the Director of External Affairs and Marketing, and Program Managers distribute flyers to advertise upcoming community meetings, design and construction projects and special events on an as needed basis. Flyers will be posted in parks and distributed to neighbors (stakeholders). In person assistance (including set up and break down) for special events put on by the Parks Department. Additional duties and assignments as needed.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job:

Ensuring the successful execution of ParkARTS cultural programming throughout the Boston Parks system. These events include Mayor Wu’s Neighborhood Concert Series, Movie Nights (where applicable), Arts and Craft workshops and various other events throughout the summer months. Some weekend work may be available as well.
Events in parks in various locations all around the city.
Setting up for various events and will need to be able to lift equipment such as chairs, tables, and set up tents.
Staff will be tasked with staffing cultural events and at times will be representing the Boston Parks Department at events. Staff may also be asked to take photos of events, interact with event attendees to make sure they are enjoying themselves, and assist in the promotion of the events by helping to distribute flyers and promote on social media. Successlink staff are expected to act professionally at all times and are expected to show up for their shift on time and ready to work.
