Overview:

Boston Parks & Recreation’s youth recreation series and events improve quality of life and promote economic balance by providing convenient, free, high-quality instructional and team-building programs to underserved and economically disadvantaged communities. These programs serve a variety of demographics, including at-risk populations and children from families who cannot afford summer sports camps, leagues, or specialized sports programs. Through these initiatives, we bring safe and enriching activities to the parks in densely populated areas, offering vital resources to the community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Help to manage day to day activities
- Direct Supervision of program participants at the site
- Assist with planning and scheduling the site programming
- Maintain and inventory of equipment and materials
- Help keep accurate records of attendance for program participants

The Ideal Candidate for this Job:

- Football Knowledge and Experience: A strong understanding of football fundamentals and previous experience in playing or coaching, preferably at the youth or recreational level. This includes knowledge of basic techniques like passing, receiving, and blocking, and the ability to teach them effectively.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with both young athletes and their parents. Clear and motivating instructions are essential to engage players and ensure they understand drills and strategies.
- Patience and Empathy: A Junior Football Coach must be patient and understanding, especially since many players may be new to the sport or still developing their skills. The coach should be able to manage varying skill levels and maintain a positive, encouraging environment.
- Teamwork and Leadership Abilities: The coach should be able to work well within a team of assistants or other staff members, while also displaying leadership to guide and motivate players. Fostering a sense of team spirit, sportsmanship, and collaboration is crucial.
