Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn represents Boston's District 2, which includes Chinatown, South Boston, South Boston Waterfront, Downtown, Bay Village, and Back Bay. The City Council serves as a link between the citizens of Boston and their municipal government. Councilors help constituents by connecting them to resources, services, and City departments. They serve as advocates for all Bostonians.
Councilor Flynn has hosted many YEO applicants and interns during his 7 years at the City Council. Over the course of his tenure working with youth in the office, Councilor Flynn has empowered youth by tailoring each applicant’s experience to their interests and providing opportunities for personal growth, leadership, and career development. These programs help youth build skills, gain work experience, and engage in meaningful community processes. Councilor Flynn has hosted a diverse group of youth and college-aged students.
Year-round opportunities in the office are available to youth, including summer/fall and winter/spring programs. These focus on policy research, drafting statements, community engagement, constituent services, and administrative tasks. The program helps youth build connections with those working in City government, develop leadership and professional skills, and prepare for future success.
