Overview:

The City of Boston’s Center for Working Families is hiring Summer Youth Financial Empowerment Ambassador Interns to help residents access free financial resources. Interns will support financial empowerment initiatives that help people learn about saving, banking, credit, and taxes. Financial empowerment is about helping people gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their money and work toward their financial goals. This can include learning how to budget, save, use bank accounts safely, build credit, and access trusted financial resources.

This role is a great opportunity for young people who want to gain job experience, learn about personal finance, and make a positive impact in their community. No prior experience is required, and training will be provided. Interns will work alongside trained staff and receive guidance and training throughout the summer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Youth Financial Empowerment Ambassador, you will support staff and community members by:

  • Gaining in-depth knowledge on financial empowerment and personal financial management, including: budgeting, safe and effective banking practices, credit building, and basic tax preparation
  • Assisting residents with basic forms and program surveys
  • Helping staff assist residents in understanding available financial programs and resources
  • Supporting workshops or events about topics like saving, banking, and budgeting
  • Sharing information about free services such as financial coaching and tax preparation
  • Helping with outreach, event preparation, and organizing materials
  • Assisting staff with projects related to financial education and community programs
  • Help the Center for Working Families engage more youth in financial empowerment services

Interns will not be expected to provide financial advice, but will help connect residents with trained staff who provide financial guidance.

  • Are between ages 15–18
  • Are interested in helping their community
  • Want to learn more about money and financial skills
