Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Boston Centers for Youth & Families Division of Youth Engagement & Employment present the SuccessLink Employment Program. The City of Boston has partnered with hundreds of community-based and nonprofit organizations across the city to provide meaningful employment opportunities to thousands of Boston teens ages 15 to 18. Participants can work in various positions that include camp counselors, administrative assistants, mural painters, peer leaders, and many more!
For the summer of 2018, the BCYF Division of Youth Engagement & Employment (YEE) will be using a lottery to select youth for these job opportunities. The first round of the lottery will begin in April 2018. Each applicant will be assigned a number to which marks their position in the lottery after the SuccessLink application closes.
Here is a timeline of how the process works!

Teens interested in applying must meet the following requirements:
Youth will create a profile for SuccessLink and then register to enter the summer jobs lottery. They will be asked to enter their names and contact information, and the fields of work they are interested in. This information will be used to match them to an open position if their name is drawn in the lottery!
SuccessLink Lottery Begins: April 2018
Starting in April 2018, YEE will begin to match youth that were selected in the lottery to jobs and notify them via email. There will be a job offer in the email, and they will be able to accept or decline the offer right on the spot! Teens will have a 72 hour window to accept or decline the job that they have been matched to. This process will continue until all of the positions have been filled at all of our host sites.
If a young person accepts a job: They will be marked as accepted and sent a follow-up email with instructions on what’s next!
If a young person declines a job or does not respond after 72 hours: If we do not hear back from an applicant, or if they are not interested/able to accept a position, their name will be moved to the end of the waitlist.
Waitlist Applicants: If a young person’s name is not drawn in the first run of the lottery, they will be automatically added to a waitlist. As positions become available, applicants will move up from the waitlist in the order their names were drawn.
Onboarding and Paperwork Completion: Applicants that accept job placements will be emailed instructions on how to fill out the necessary paperwork along with a checklist of required documents (such as a birth certificate and social security card) for the position they accepted. They will be able to log-in to the profile using the email and password they used to make their SuccessLink account to fill out the paperwork and upload their documents. After they have completed the paperwork online, they will then be asked to bring their original documents to the YEE team to be verified and complete the hiring process! Youth will be given a 5-day window to upload any documents. If they do not do so within this timeframe, they will return to the waitlist pool.
